How mods get checked
Claudemods lists Claude Code mods: plugins whose hooks run JavaScript or TypeScript modules inside Claude Code. Before a mod is listed, its code is read on GitHub at a pinned commit.
What is a Claude Code mod?
A mod is a Claude Code plugin with hooks that run JavaScript or TypeScript modules inside Claude Code. That lets it draw things (a pane beside the conversation, an entry in the status line, a band above the prompt, a toast) and step into what Claude does (check or rewrite a tool call before it runs, add a slash command, give the model a new tool, add to the system prompt). Other plugins add skills, agents, MCP servers or shell-command hooks; mods run code inside Claude Code itself.
How do I install one?
Every mod page has the exact commands and a copy button. A mod published in a plugin marketplace installs inside Claude Code with two commands, /plugin marketplace add and then /plugin install, and stays installed. Any other mod loads from a clone of its repository with claude --plugin-dir, for that session only.
What does the check do?
A folder on GitHub is listed as a mod only if all of these hold:
- it has
.claude-plugin/plugin.jsonwith a name; - it has
hooks/hooks.json, or the hooks fileplugin.jsonpoints to; - that file lists at least one
.jsor.tsmodule, and every listed module exists.
The check pins the commit it read. That commit is linked as “Checked” on every mod page, so you can read exactly the code that passed. It also notes which parts of Claude Code each module hooks into (panes, the status line, tool calls, slash commands and so on) by what its source calls.
Does the check make a mod safe?
No. The check is automatic and structural. It is not a security review: nobody runs the code, and passing the check doesn't mean a mod is safe or does what it says. A mod runs on your machine with your permissions, so read its source before you install it.
Where do the mods come from?
Authors submit them on the submit page, and a crawler looks for new ones on GitHub every few hours. Both go through the same check.
Are listed mods kept up to date?
Yes. Every listed mod is looked at again daily. When something new was pushed, its code is read again at the new commit. A mod that no longer passes is hidden until it's fixed, and a mod whose repository is gone is removed. Stars and forks are refreshed at the same time; they belong to the whole repository, not to one mod in it.
How do I report a mod or get mine removed?
Moderators can hide any mod, and a hidden mod stays hidden through the daily re-check. To report a mod or ask for yours to be removed, write to support. Messages from the contact form go straight to the support inbox by email; the site doesn't store them.
